For the people of Akuapem, Odwira stands as the most significant and revered festival. In 2026, the Akuapem State proudly commemorates the 200th Anniversary of the Odwira Festival, marking two centuries of cultural continuity, spiritual renewal, and communal unity.

Akuapem’s Odwira is celebrated exactly forty (40) days after the last Awukudae in the Akuapem Traditional Calendar, with nine Awukudaes constituting a full calendar year. The festival spans approximately two weeks, during which a series of sacred rites, traditional ceremonies, and cultural activities handed down through generations are observed.
